1. Position 1.
2. Pass right index from below under left palmar string, and return.
3. Pass left index under left near little finger string, and up into left little finger loop from below. Hook left index over left far little finger string, and rotate it toward you and up.
4. Insert left middle finger into left index loop from below. Then bend left index and middle fingers toward you and down, inserting left middle finger into left thumb loop from above, and left index finger on the near side of the left near thumb string, so that the left near thumb string is pinched between the index and middle finger. Rotate left index and middle finger away and up, pulling left near thumb string up through index-middle-finger loop (which slips off), the left near thumb string becoming the left near index string. Release left thumb.
5. Pass left thumb under left near index string, over left far index string, and insert into left little finger loop from below. Return through left index loop with left near little finger string.
6. Insert left thumb into left index loop from above, and hook down left near index string through left thumb loop, which slips off.
7. Pass left thumb away under all strings, and then back into left little finger loop from above, from the far side. With the palm of of the left thumb, pick up left near little finger string, and pull it back through left thumb loop (which slips off). With left thumb pointing right, rotate left thumb toward you, down, away from you under former just-released left near thumb string, and back up, picking up the former left near thumb string again on the left thumb (allowing the near little finger string to slip off the thumb as the thumb string is pulled back through it).
8. Release both index finger loops.
9. As you separate your hands, untwist the figure by giving the right hand loop a full twist toward you.
In [Gordon 1906], the spelling of the Inuit name is slightly different: "nanvumchiseah."
