1. Opening A.

2. Release right index loop.

3. Insert right thumb into right little finger from below, and return with near little finger string.

4. Insert right index into right thumb loop from below, and return with far thumb string (not the palmar string).

5. With the left thumb and index, grab the two right near thumb strings, close to the right thumb, and withdraw the right hand from all its loops. Keeping the loops pinched between the left thumb and index, let the former right thumb-little-finger loop hang from the left thumb, and the former right thumb-index loop hang from the left index.

6. Pass the right thumb to the left into the loop hanging from the left thumb, and the right little finger to the left into the loop hanging from the left index. Release the loops held by the left thumb and index.

7. Repeat steps 3 through 6 twice.

8. Repeat step 3.

9. With right thumb and index, remove left index loop, and pass entire left hand through it from below, letting it slip down to the left wrist (releasing it from right thumb and index).

10. With right thumb and index, grab left far thumb string and near little finger string. Remove left hand from all its loops.

11. Insert left thumb and little finger from below (proximally, from right to left) into former left thumb loop (now hanging from right thumb). Then insert left thumb only from above (distally, from left to right) into former left little finger loop (now hanging from right index). Release loops held by right thumb and index.

12. Insert indexes from below into thumb loops, and return with far thumb strings (not the palmar strings).

13. Caroline extension.

These instructions are from [K. Haddon 1918], figure 7 ("A Jew Lizard"). Haddon's figure has the Caroline extension the right hand only...I've altered the instructions to do it on both hands, to better match Roth's drawing.

Roth's drawing shows no string crossing at the right (originally left, before rotating the image) thumb...I suspect this may be an error.
