[Jayne 1906] offers a reconstruction of this figure; the following is a slightly simplified version of it:
1. Navajo opening.
2. Insert thumbs into index loops from below, and return with near index strings.
3. Lift lower thumb loops off thumbs, past upper thumb loops, and drop.
A close inspection shows that the string crossings don't match the string crossings of the illustration. [Dickey 1928] gives this figure as part of the dissolution sequence of a much longer and more complex figure, Hawaii Nui A, but the string crossings of Dickey's figure match Jayne's reconstruction, not the illustration.
The following method exactly reproduces the string crossings of the illustration:
1. Arctic opening B (always done left-handed in Hawaii).
2. Pass little fingers under index loops, and insert into thumb loops from above. Pick up near thumb string, and return under index loop.
3. Pass little fingers into index loops from below, and hook them down over near index string, allowing original little finger loops to slip off.
4. Release thumb loops. (This is slightly awkward to do because of a twist in the thumb loops - it helps to take out the twist first by turning the thumbs a half-twist away from you.)
Here's another way to do it, that comes out upside-down:
1. Arctic opening B (always done left-handed in Hawaii).
2. Insert little fingers from below into index loops, and clasp near index strings down to palms.
3. Insert middle fingers into index loops from below. Then bend indexes and middle finger forward and down, passing indexes to the near side of near thumb string, and middle fingers to the far side of near thumb strings. Rotate indexes and middle fingers a half-turn away from you and up, catching near thumb strings on indexes, and allowing original index loops to slip off.
4. Release little fingers.
5. Untwist thumb loops by rotating thumbs a half-turn away from you and down.
